Alison Jayne Anderson was born on June 9, 1970 in Queens, New York and is an American citizen. She graduated from Midlothian High School, Midlothian, Virginia, in 1988. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Richmond, Virginia in May of 1991. She has two brothers Robert Ernest and Edward John. Her father Robert Francis (Major U.S. Army Retired) and her mother Alice Jayne both served in the Vietnam War. She is married to Commander Barry Alan Shumate. Her step-daughter is named Maria Evelyn Shumate. She enjoys spending time with family and her dog Bandit.
